Chocolate Road follows three chocolate artisans in pursuit of the highest quality cacao beans. Their quest takes them to the cacao growing regions of the world, where their cooperation with farmers has a transformative and empowering effect on the communities.
ABOUT THE FILMMAKER
Tanya Chuturkova
Originally from Sofia, Bulgaria, and now based in New York, Tanya Chuturkova is a director and creative producer with film and television credits. She wrote, produced and directed six short films before embarking on Chocolate Road, her debut feature documentary.
FILM SYNOPSIS
In Chocolate Road, three renowned chocolatiers in the craft chocolate movement travel to the cacao plantations of South and Central America to source the best ingredients in a fair and sustainable manner. The growing demand for high-quality chocolate creates a symbiotic relationship between the chocolate artisans hoping to create next-level chocolate experiences and cacao producers hoping to make inroads to earning livable wages from their labors and expertise.
