Award-winning filmmaker Thomas Marchese is a former police officer based in Monterey, CA. His first feature film, Fallen, won the Jury Prize for Best Feature Documentary at the 2017 Hollywood Film Festival, as well as the Audience Award for Best Feature Film at the 2017 Phoenix Film Festival.
Every year, over 100 police officers are killed—that’s one nearly every three days. Fallen is a feature-length documentary that brings to light how US law enforcement officers and their families struggle to cope in the aftermath of officers killed in the line of duty—and the ever-present threat they live with as part of the job.
Filmed over five years, the production visited police agencies across the country to capture stories of bravery and sacrifice from the families, friends and partners of those who gave their lives in the service of others.
Directed by a former police officer who himself was wounded in the line of duty and narrated by Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning actor Michael Chiklis (The Shield), Fallen shows a side of US law enforcement rarely seen by the public.
